Ezibeleni School for the Disabled:

This project has benefited directly from the Club through supporting their initiatives. The Club initially adopted one student and took care of all his needs, and later adopted the school so that all the students could benefit from our assistance.

The Club has been making sure that as far as possible we have Christmas Parties for the children, and to buy them toys.

We organise fun days, have a braai, and organize fun games for the school. This is an important aspect of our interaction with the school, because it means that members are also exposed to the plight of these children.

In 2003, the Club acceded to the school's request to purchase a machine called the Interacaustic Audiometer, which is used to test the hearing ability of children who are suspected to be having a hearing problem. This machine cost the Club R 23 899.00.

There are numerous other projects that we have assisted Ezibeleni with over the years. We will continue to indirectly identify other companies that can be of assistance to this school.

Madisha Girls: These four girls, whose ages range between 14 and 18 are orphaned, and stay alone in a house in Mamelodi. The Club got to know about their plight at one of our formal dinners. Some of our members, touched by their problem, pledged a total of R22 500.00 towards assisting the girls. Whilst as a Club we did not directly get involved, we were able to facilitate this assistance.

ERC Youth Entrepreneurial Development Project: For the next decade, we would like to focus our attention on youth entrepreneurial development. We launched this project last year, and are seriously looking at companies that can collaborate with us in order to make this initiative a success. We would like to encourage the youth to look at being job creators instead of being job seekers. We would like to run a business idea competition that will eventually be perfected and converted to a proper business opportunity. This we can only be able to achieve with the assistance of companies such as financial institutions, and other corporate companies who have such programmes. We do not want to re-invent the wheel as such. This programme is one of two that will benefit from our annual fundraising dinner to be held on 23rd April 2004.

Jerusalem Home: This project, together with our Youth Programme, is set to benefit from the proceeds of this year's fundraising dinner. The committee responsible for projects has visited the Home to identify their needs, and like in all other projects that we look at, we, together with their committee, will look at items that could be purchased for the needs of the children. As a Club, we have resolved that that is the best way of assisting with projects.
